Join Maureen Crouch as she discusses how to can and preserve foods safely.

The focus of this workshop will be on encouraging folks to try canning and to do it safely in order to preserve their own foods.

All participants will receive the latest edition of the USDA's canning guide and the essential tools to get you started.

This workshop is made possible by the ALA Libraries Transforming Communities grant awarded to the Voluntown Public Library.

Right under our feet, in the forests of Voluntown, the under-appreciated world of fungi offers a real adventure, both scientific and delicious!

Using an amazing slideshow of all-local photography, Ryan and Emily will explain mushroom science and safety rules, and then focus on some of the season's tastiest local mushroom species--the ones that are considered safe for beginner to identify and cook with.
